2023 Winter Meeting at Knott's Berry Farm

Join us for our annual Winter Meeting on December 6, 2023! We will be hosting our meeting at the Boardwalk Ballroom with time to play at the park and ride some rides before and after the meeting. We will have raffles, a cash bar, buffet, and desserts. This meeting is open to adults only, limited to one guest per member. MUST RSVP by 11/26/2023 – there will be no late registrations accepted due to the nature of the venue.

We will have a presentation by Amanda Rumans with Bristol Myers Squibb within the Veterinary Sciences department. She leads a multi-site training program  and team of trainers specializing in onboarding and biomethodology training for all in vivo personnel. She earned her MS in Management and Leadership at Pepperdine University and BS in Animal Science at Cal Poly Pomona. She has been working with animals for almost 20 years and is currently certified as an RVT, LATG, and CMAR. 

Her talk is titled, "Mock it up-Realistic training scenarios to strengthen your muscle memory."  Our team of trainers focused on a few scenarios within the vivarium that tend to fall under a “use it or lose it” mantra. Often these trainings are initially given in a presentation format with minimal real-world demonstrations due to the infrequency of occurrences. We plan to showcase three mock scenarios that helped our animal care technicians become better prepared to identify clinical cases, respond to non-human primate exposures, and develop action plans for vivarium-related emergencies.
